Week 3: Down to Business.
Hey there guys, Adam here again with Angry Ghost Games.
This week we've all been hard at work getting what was worked on last week finalized and into the game.
Ryan has UV unwrapped our main character, Bob, ready for texturing.
Isn't that just something. These strange shapes form a 2D version of the 3D model from last week, and will be painted over in order to give colour to our main character.
At that point, all that is left for them is rigging and animation before they can be added to the game at long last. Goodbye pills, you will be missed.
Ryan has also worked on getting controller support hooked up in game. Whilst this was probably something that would have been worked on later down the line, it was the highest requested fix following our most recent playtest. There was also the problem that having two players surrounding one keyboard; wrestling for control of it was almost as much of a game as Magefest itself and thus required fixing.
Connor has been working on aspects of the Cloud based level shown last week.
Connor has also been working on adding particle effect trails to our projectiles in order to add some real power to the attacks and to make them look more threatening than a lightly tossed basketball.
Christina has once again been working to collect and decide upon sound effects for the game. The desired effect is for them to match the visuals and this video will show how well they do so.
Josh has expanded and refined the menu system of the game, making it more user friendly and easy to navigate.
I have been working on finalizing the company logo.
Here is the completely finished design.
I have also come up with a basic concept for a business card, themed after a hockey ticket.

I have also come up with a basic concept for a business card, themed after a hockey ticket.
The ticket is designed to be what a ticket to a match at the in-universe magefest would look like, complete with seat number, competitors and nonsensical magic runes. It is very early in the design process, so, as with anything shown in one of these posts, feel free to offer critique or advice on a direction to take with it.
Jess has been working on the UI bar which she will be able to show in next weeks blog.
In other exciting news, we are meeting with someone who may be joining the project to work on music for the game. If all goes well their introduction should be the next post on this blog (fingers crossed).
All in all, this week has progressed smoothly with relatively few bumps in the road, which we can only hope will continue from here on out.
Next week we should be seeing things from the past couple of weeks become fully situated within the game, or otherwise finished and ready to implement. I hope you are all as excited as we are to see all of this fantastic work make its way into the game.
Thank you again for checking in with us. We hope you enjoyed what you saw this week and look forward to what will be shown here in the weeks to come.
Until next post.
-Adam
